Leverage in trading allows you to control a larger position in the market with a relatively small amount of capital. It is expressed as a ratio, such as 1:100, meaning you can control $100,000 worth of a position with just $1,000 in margin. While leverage can amplify potential profits, it also increases risk, as losses are also magnified.

How Tiered Leverage Works

Tiered leverage applies different leverage levels depending on the size of a trader’s position. As trade volume increases, leverage is reduced to manage risk more effectively.

For example, consider the following tiered leverage structure we offer for Bitcoin (BTCUSD):

  • 0–25 lots: 1:100 leverage
  • 25–50 lots: 1:50 leverage
  • 50+ lots: 1:20 leverage

If a trader opens a 30-lot position, the leverage is applied in tiers:

  • The first 25 lots are leveraged at 1:100.
  • The remaining 5 lots are leveraged at 1:50.

If the trader opens a 60-lot position:

  • The first 25 lots are leveraged at 1:100.
  • The next 25 lots are at 1:50.
  • The final 10 lots are at 1:20.

The Depth of Market (DOM) shows the best bid and ask prices for a financial instrument.

To open the DOM, right-click in the Market Watch, select “Depth of Market,” or press Alt + B.

Two types of operations can be performed in the DOM:

  • Market Orders: Buy or sell at the current market price via the order function at the bottom.
  • Pending orders: Place pending orders to buy or sell at a specified price from the DOM table.

The new pending order is displayed in the Toolbox’s Trade tab. As soon as there is a market participant ready to buy or sell the financial instrument at the specified price, the order will be filled and will turn into an open position.

How to place a pending order:

Pending orders are placed using the red and blue arrow buttons Set Buy Limit/Buy Stop or Set Sell Limit/Sell Stop next to the desired price:

  • To place a Buy Limit order, click Set Buy Limit in the Bid price area.
  • To place a Buy Stop order, click Set Buy Stop in the Ask price area.
  • To place a Sell Limit order, click Set Sell Limit in the Ask price area.
  • To place a Sell Stop order, click Set Sell Stop in the Bid price area.

To delete an order from the depth of market, hover the mouse cursor over Set Sell Limit/Sell Stop (or Set Buy Limit/Buy Stop) to the right and click Shift. The button will change its view to Delete level. Click the button to delete the order. Or visit the Trade tab and close the pending order from there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I have to be re-onboarded by BlackBull Markets?

Yes, BlackBull Markets is required to conduct its own customer onboarding due diligence.

Will I keep my IBKR UID number?

No, your IBKR customer UID number will not remain the same. You will be issued a new “U” account number under BlackBull Markets.

Will my trading platform change after transferring to BlackBull Markets?

You will need to redownload the platform specific to BlackBull Markets (same platform but rebranded). All relevant information, including download links, will be provided in an email once your BlackBull Markets Share account has been approved.

Will my portfolio or holdings change during the transition?

No, your portfolio and holdings will remain the same. The transition only involves a change in the service provider.

Will there be any additional fees during the transfer process?

No additional fees will be charged for the transfer. Standard brokerage fees under BlackBull Market’s terms will apply afterward. Please note that we do not charge any management or holding fees.

How long will the transition process take?

The transition typically takes a few business days, but the exact timing depends on the completion of all necessary due diligence and documentation. We will keep you informed with updates and notify you once the transfer is complete.

I do not want to switch; can I continue with my Rockfort Markets account?

Unfortunately, Rockfort Markets Limited, (trading as RockGlobal), has had its derivatives issuer license revoked by the regulator. As a result, BlackBull Markets will now serve as your provider. Rest assured, your access to markets through Interactive Brokers (IBKR) will remain unaffected.
